Murder at Poe's Raven Party
You have received an invitation to a raven party at the Poe Mansion in the gloomy crime-ridden city of Wraith’s Cove. The town gossips are chattering about the disreputable people on Eddie Poe’s guest list. What could Eddie be thinking? Could it be that Eddie has finally gone mad? It appears that at least the Poe Mansion’s in dire need of assistance. Ever since Eddie’s housekeeper quit, the estate is in shambles.
Nevertheless, you are intrigued by the thought of a Gothic dinner party held in honor of a fiendish bird – even if the group of ruffians may cause chaos. Chaos can be fun sometimes, right? This is where your story begins.

Guest List
Lincoln Dangerfield
Police Psychologist
A perplexing individual with a silver tongue and a dark past, Lincoln has finally figured out the world and is a contributing member of society. As a youth, Lincoln underwent a misguided rebellion and dropped out of high school to become a street hooligan. Today, Lincoln is a morally ambiguous and infallible police psychologist for the city of Wraith’s Cove. Lincoln is oddly calm when predicting misfortune and devastation.
Lincoln is Logan Finch's archenemy and doesn't get along with Bo Bandini. As a teen, Lincoln was friends with Brock but wishes to now disassociate from the dark past. Lincoln and Gray are best pals.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired black suit. Police badge as an accessory. The Your Mystery Party Merch store has a Wraith's Cove Police Department T-shirt line at www.yourmysteryparty.com/merch
A tailored black suit with subtle gothic touches—matte-black lapels, a dark vest, or faint pinstripes. Add a vintage-style police badge on a chain, and maybe a pocket watch for Lincoln's “dark past intellectual” vibe. Pale makeup or slightly shadowed eyes can hint at a calm-but-menacing aura. Optional: a slim notebook for “psych evaluations.”
Logan Finch
Office Manager, Wraith’s Cove Daily
An American of Irish descent, Logan is an office manager at the Wraith’s Cove Daily who is obsessed with workplace power-plays and revenge plots. A merciless ladder climber who never compromises, Logan is a gossipmonger when tittle-tattle has the promise to lead to advancement in rank at the newspaper. Logan prefers to be alone when possible and is anything but altruistic.
Logan Finch has held a grudge against Lincoln Dangerfield ever since Logan worked as a 911 operator at the Wraith's Cove Police Station. For that matter, Logan despises everyone at the police station! Logan does anything to please the editor-in-chief, Eddie Poe. Logan is an obvious kiss-up to those with power, but many newspaper employees say Logan is a nightmare colleague.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. A razor-sharp black suit or structured gothic dress with an officious edge—think power-shoulders or sleek silhouettes. Add a dark tie, minimalist jewelry, or pointed heels. Subtle office accessories (clipboard, lanyard, or notebook) help sell the “ambitious office tyrant” energy. Dark, severe makeup or slicked-back hair works great.
Zane Katz
Agent, undisclosed federal agency
Zane Katz is a deeply philosophical federal agent. Rather aloof with expensive tastes, Zane’s a worldly, refined individual who people easily come to trust. Nobody knows which agency Zane works for. The burning question is whether Zane is in Wraith’s Cove for business or pleasure. The agent was invited to Poe’s Raven Party and was the first to return an RSVP card. This is troubling to those on the guest list with shady pasts and less-than-honorable intentions.
Zane is in Wraith's Cove on a mission but cannot disclose anything further to the police or other agencies. This is proving difficult for Zane to get cooperation, so Zane is trying to work around the police and investigate alone.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. A mysterious, polished black suit with a long coat or trench to invoke secrecy. Dark sunglasses indoors add comedic suspense. A toy gun or earpiece makes the federal angle clear. Keep the look clean, stylish, and expensive—gleaming shoes, crisp shirt, maybe a hint of metallic jewelry for that worldly touch.
Brock Falstaff
Unemployed
Brock Falstaff is an academic genius who constantly makes a mess of situations. Bored with mundane life, this scholar creates perilous scenarios purely for the enjoyment derived from evading the predicaments. Brock is unemployed yet intermingles with the hollow upper-class world. Both witty and charming, Brock is a manipulator with a propensity to use wealthy friends to obtain undeserved luxuries and fund an extravagant shopping habit.
Brock is a bit of a gossip and some folks are upset at Brock for spreading rumors. Many people proclaim envy over Brock's lifestyle because everyone knows Brock hasn't endured one day of hard work yet enjoys a lavish lifestyle.
Suggested Attire: Gothic attire. Elaborate costume jewelry as accessories. Designer-inspired black clothing—an oversized blazer, dramatic scarf, or avant-garde top. Add faux-luxury accessories: chunky gothic jewelry, statement rings, or tinted glasses. Tousled hair and slightly chaotic layering sell Brock’s “unemployed but decadent” lifestyle. A prop shopping bag is a fun touch.
Danny Drake
Forensic Anthropologist
With a childlike charm and wonder, Danny Drake is a forensic anthropologist for the Wraith’s Cove Crime Lab. Hailing from an impoverished background - Danny deplores the upper crust of society. Hungry for attention, Danny holds the center stage of any room and often reminisces about when Danny’s mother gave up everything for a failed attempt at Danny becoming a child star. This lab dweller embraces never-ending grudges and blames society for everything wrong in life.
The town is holding its breath as Danny is currently investigating skeletal remains found in a local cornfield. People hope the bones belong to one of the missing victims of the Body Snatch Killer. That way, there will finally be potential tangible evidence in the case.
Suggested Attire: Gothic attire. You do not embrace upper society, so you don’t mimic them. Distressed black jeans, a loose black tee, and worn boots. Add lab-style touches like disposable gloves in your pocket, a clipboard, or a plastic “evidence bag.” Messy hair and dark circles match Danny’s dramatic grudge-holding persona. Keep it “gothic but cheap”—nothing fancy.
Eddie Poe
Editor-in-Chief, Wraith’s Cove Daily
With a primal instinct for survival, shrewdness, and deceitfulness, Eddie Poe is editor-in-chief at the Wraith’s Cove Daily. A loner driven to seclusion from heartbreak and an unfortunate sequence of misfortunes, Eddie has an attachment to a strict routine and will become enraged if anyone gets in the way. An aficionado of the macabre, Eddie runs the editorial department at the Wraith’s Cove Daily after giving up on a dream career as a freelance poet. Due to Eddie’s self-loathing state of mind, Eddie’s estate is in a sullied condition and in dire need of repairs.
Eddie's only true friend is a raven named Moe. Eddie claims the party is in honor of Moe, and ravens alike.
Suggested Attire: Edgar Allan Poe look. Victorian-inspired gothic poet attire—ruffled shirt, long black coat, or dramatic cloak. Unkempt hair or smudged eyeliner enhances his tormented writer vibe. Add a raven prop on your shoulder or hand. Optional ink-stained fingers, old manuscripts, or quill pens.
Flynn Moriarty
Journalist, Wraith’s Cove Daily
Flynn Moriarty exists behind a smokescreen of a glitzy swirl of high society shindigs and life without boundaries or limits. Behind the curtains, Flynn drones on about a failed career and an empty trust fund. Flynn faces the world with nothing but a charismatic personality's power. Due to Eddie Poe being a childhood friend, Flynn recently landed a job with Wraith’s Cove Daily as an entry-level field journalist, reporting on local bake sales, ice cream socials, and farm festivals. Flynn has the potential to be a success in the field if an inflated ego and a bottomless barrel of pride do not ruin everything.
Recently, Flynn was involved in an international scandal after coaxing Eddie Poe into publishing a lead story about a pop star's remains discovered in Wraith's Cove. The story was later proven to be fake, and Eddie was more than livid about having to publish a retraction. As an entitled trust fund kid, Flynn burned many bridges in town. Now, Flynn wishes there were more friends around to show how to be a regular person.
Suggested Attire: Moderately fashionable Gothic attire. You’ve fallen from money, but still have nice things from the past. A fashionable but slightly outdated gothic look—perhaps a designer blazer paired with dark jeans or a statement necklace. Mess the outfit up just a bit to show the fall from grace. Carry a notebook, mic, or press badge. Optional: sunglasses pushed up into hair, overly shiny shoes from former wealth.
Landry Nevermore
Homicide Detective
Touted as the grandest detective of modern times, Landry Nevermore is intellectual, witty, and charming. Landry possesses the powers of persuasion and rationality to crack challenging cases in Wraith's Cove's crime-ridden, evil realm. A deductive mastermind who utilizes a superior mind for the good of the town, Landry is in tune with the seedy minds of humanity’s underbelly.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. A disheveled appearance – you work long hours. The Your Mystery Party Merch store has a Wraith's Cove Police Department T-shirt line at www.yourmysteryparty.com/merch
A rumpled black suit or trench coat with a police badge clipped on. Loosened tie, tousled hair, and tired-eye makeup sell the “overworked genius” vibe. Add a worn leather notebook or magnifying glass. Keep it classic detective noir with gothic tones.
Gray Golightly
Escape Room Designer
Corrupt, wicked, and dangerous to associate with, Gray Golightly possesses an unchained, thoughtless persona. Gray’s a heartless and contemptuous troublemaker who uses people like a hairbrush – for their functionality. Take Gray’s words lightly, as Gray’s life is one big fairytale narrated by an imaginative mind. Gray’s a hipster who lives for wicked adventures and plays the cello with a disturbing lack of talent. Landry Nevermore is currently investigating Gray for multiple disappearances of thrill seekers who have entered the Golightly Escape Experience.
Lincoln Dangerfield and Gray are best pals.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
A modern hipster-goth look: black skinny jeans, oversized sweater or leather jacket, eclectic jewelry, and maybe a single dramatic accessory (like fingerless gloves or a weird hat). Optional cello case prop if desired. Keep the vibe chaotic but artsy.
Dr. Fox
Illusionist
A budding artist and famous escapist, Dr. Fox discharges all creative energies into maintaining the House of Dreads – a performance theater and ghoulish museum of artifacts associated with deadly attempts at magic. Dr. Fox was chiseled from the stone, giving forth fierce, bold types. A no-nonsense creature of habit, Dr. Fox is disciplined and determined to make history in the field of illusion. This illusionist has suffered a lifetime of great injustices and sadness, so the hair-raising, sinister magic shows at the theater are reflective of the past.
Suggested Attire: Magician’s costume.
A gothic magician outfit—long black coat, vest, dark gloves, and a top hat. Add mystical touches like silver chains, arcane symbols, or smoky eye makeup. Optional props: deck of cards, wand, rope, or locks. Dramatic hair works well.
Jess Sherlock
Writer
Jess Sherlock is the most mysterious of all the chilling guests on Poe’s invite list. A struggling writer, blatantly embracing life with a drive fringing on recklessness, Jess has a serene detachment from a visible path of self-destruction. Lacking awareness or concern for well-being or comfort, Jess intentionally enters harm’s way. Jess has penned over thirty best-selling novels of the undead and lives in a mansion overlooking Wraith’s Cove, next door to the envious Eddie Poe.
Many people have come to realize that Jess may have a death wish, as Jess has gone to many lengths to taunt the infamous Body Snatch Killer - a serial murderer who has plagued the town of Wraith's Cove for five years.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired poet costume or Shakespearean-style attire.
Flowy black blouse, lace cuffs, dramatic cloak, or dark velvet. Windswept hair and pale makeup fit the “death-chasing writer” theme. Carry an old book, journal, or quill. A slightly haunted vibe ties it together.
Lolo Trotsky
Private Investigator
A conventional rogue, Lolo Trotsky is a larger-than-life private investigator. A riotously amusing vigilante who is believed to be a modern-day Robin Hood, Lolo rejects societal rules and does whatever is needed to get the job done. Often called a bully, Lolo claims it is merely that Lolo’s way is best, and others may not realize what is good for them. Lolo is the archenemy of Landry Nevermore, as they are often working the same murder cases – albeit the victim’s families hire Lolo.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired detective attire. A gothic noir detective look with a long coat, wide-brim hat, dark vest, and boots. A Sherlock-style pipe or magnifying glass works great. Add leather gloves or shoulder holster (toy) if desired. Slightly dramatic, slightly comedic is perfect.
Morgan Marlowe
Convenience Store Clerk
Morgan Marlowe is a clerk for the Stop-N-Go – a convenience store on Black Dalia Drive. Morgan easily recites freeform poetry and engages in petty crimes to supplement a meager income and satisfy rich tastes. An accomplished pickpocket, Morgan is particularly dexterous and uses an assorted bag of tricks to thrive and evade strife with the police. A streetwise facade with the heart of an innocent child – you’ll find yourself cheering for this antihero.
Morgan's job at the convenience store is in danger, as many complaints have been launched about this clerk's rude behavior. Smart people have realized not to rush into the store when the doors open. Morgan is not a morning person!
Suggested Attire: Click here for males. Click here for females.
A simple black tee and jeans with a street-goth twist—dark beanie, black wristbands, or eyeliner. Add a name tag, receipt roll, or toy cash drawer accessory. Messed hair and a “don’t bother me” expression complete the look.
Paige Shandy
CTO, Wraith’s Cove Daily
Paige Shandy is the chief technology officer at the Wraith’s Cove Daily. Cynical with little redeeming qualities, Paige is utterly obnoxious and taxing to be around. An acknowledged computer hacker and suspected member of an international hacking group, this CTO is not to be toiled with, albeit many have tried and failed epically. Paige can be terrifying and intimidating, but Paige turns gentle as a lamb on a second's notice. Paige’s duo of personalities keeps everyone guessing.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Tech-goth: black hoodie or blazer, dark skinny jeans, cyberpunk touches like fingerless gloves, neon accents, or circuit-style makeup. Add laptop stickers, a fake hacker badge, or a USB lanyard. Flip between intimidating and harmless in your expression.
Seven Caulfield
Puppeteer
A doomed romantic, Seven has an inquisitive temperament coupled with a powerful imagination. Unfit for the adult world, Seven has difficulty dealing with obligations and responsibilities. Seven has a stoical truthfulness that causes Seven innately to do the right thing. A puppeteer, Seven has built a lucrative career by performing at home parties, weekly shows at the House of Dread, and by running ads on a YouTube channel with over 500K subscribers.
Seven makes 95% of an income from running ads on a YouTube channel. Most of Seven's videos go viral because they are utterly disturbing. The people of Wraith's Cove have been chatting about creating a petition to prevent Seven from performing in town. Seven has good intentions, but the puppet shows are demented and can give nightmares!
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Soft but unsettling goth—oversized sweater, layered dark fabrics, or whimsical Victorian elements. Add a creepy puppet (dark marionette or soft doll). Smudged eyeliner or pale makeup helps emphasize the eerie-but-innocent tone.
Sterling Twist
Con Artist
A probing spectator of the macabre, Sterling Twist is a rebel with a cause who modifies the past, present, and future at will. Sterling is a vibrant outcast who spews intriguing tales of extravagant adventures – which may or may not hold a shred of reality. Causing trouble at every junction, Sterling is a ferocious free-thinker who often pretends to be someone else when intermingling in society. This cagey soul may be quite dangerous, as Sterling never reveals intentions.
Sterling is the first to arrive at a crime scene or car accident. Is it because Sterling has first-hand knowledge or intuition? Sterling has also been seen roaming around town in disguises lately. Nobody knows why Sterling is exhibiting such peculiar behavior.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
A gothic shapeshifter look—mix-and-match pieces like disguise glasses, fake mustache, scarf, or wig. Black clothing topped with a dramatic trench or cape. Add a deck of fake IDs, vintage briefcase, or disguises peeking out of pockets.
Sam Salander
Headmaster, Hogcastle Preparatory School
Sam Salander is a role model in every sense: bold, heroic, and honorable. As the headmaster of Hogcastle Preparatory School, Sam has an ambitious and overbearing personality. This headmaster understands the abundant defects and imperfections in the human condition and is on a mission to instill an eternal code of value and honor within the 284 students who roam the corridors of the prestigious academy.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired headmaster attire. A dark-wizard–inspired academic ensemble: long black robe, gray layers, ornate pendant, or staff. Think Dumbledore meets gothic professor. Add spectacles, rings, or embroidered details. Optional: weathered spell book.
Bo Bandini
CIA Agent
A veteran who served twenty honorable years in the military, Bo Bandini is an agent for the Central Intelligence Agency who hails from Wraith’s Cove. With an obsessive personality, Bo refuses to back down while facing unbeatable odds. With an infectious laugh and complex nature, Bo’s willpower and motivations are admirable. It is a challenge to ascertain Bo’s theories and opinions. Nobody knows which sector of the CIA Bo is assigned.
Bo lacks respect for the Wraith's Cove Police Department. Bo also wasn't invited to Eddie's dinner party. Bo charmed Eddie into an invitation.
Suggested Attire: Gothic attire. A badge as an optional prop.
Black button-up, black slacks, and military-precision grooming. Add dark tactical boots, sunglasses, and an ID badge or earpiece. Keep the look sharp and controlled. Optional toy firearm or mission folder.
Hollis Heep
Undertaker
Hollis Heep was well-born, but a long string of catastrophic events led this funeral director down a path of calamity and eventual isolation. Impoverished, Hollis’s adulthood has been nothing but social decent. Hollis exists within a solitary realm on the margins of high society, secluded from former friends, family, and colleagues. Hollis views people with money as morally corrupt and chooses only to associate with fellow undertakers and cemetery workers.
The Heep family helped to build the town of Wraith's Cove. As one of the eight founding lineages, the Heeps had buildings named after them, were granted honorary memberships to exclusive clubs, and had carte blanche as far as the upper crust of society was concerned. However, the Heeps refused to back down to the WC Mob, an underground mob faction in Wraith's Cove. This led to a chain of events that brought down one of the most powerful families in the city. Hollis is the last remaining Heep in the town.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
A somber black suit or dress with pale makeup, hollowed cheeks, and dark under-eyes. Add funeral-home accessories like a black veil, rosary, or white gloves. Hair slicked back or severely parted adds an extra gothic chill.
Hollis Heep's Colleague
Undertaker
Hollis Heep despises high society gatherings and prefers attending events surrounded by uninvited colleagues. This morose group of morticians, embalmers, and gravediggers all work for The Great Beyond Funeral Home.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. Same aesthetic as Hollis—black suit/dress, pale complexion, shadowed eyes. Add a lapel pin shaped like a coffin, skull bracelet, or funeral ledger. Keep the vibe eerie but professional.
Dom Sorel
Manager, Comic Emporium
With an affirmative and positive nature, Dom Sorel operates the Comic Emporium with smiles, flattering lingo, and pure altruism. The city's townsfolk regularly pop their heads into Dom’s store—if only for a morale boost to get through the dark days in the crime-riddled city.
There are always people who try to bring positive people down, but Dom and the staff of the Comic Emporium are impervious to negativity.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. For a girl, Gothic comic book makeup/costume, and for a male, a dark comic t-shirt. A cheerful-but-goth twist: black comic tee, dark jeans, and playful makeup. Add comic accessories like speech-bubble pins, dark lipstick in a fun color, or a cape with gothic motifs. Keep energy bright.
Dom Sorel's Staff
Employee, Comic Emporium
The Comic Emporium employees take a page from Dom’s book of life and exude positivity from their pores. They are a blissful bunch of retail workers who live for their jobs and are all experts in pop culture fandom.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. For a girl, Gothic comic book makeup/costume, and for a male, a dark comic t-shirt. Similar to Dom—dark comic tee, subtle gothic makeup, or fandom accessories (goth Batman, dark anime themes). Add lanyards, name tags, or prop comics for retail authenticity.
Linden Zhivago
Retired Broadway Performer
Linden Zhivago retired from the limelight and moved a large family to Wraith’s Cove. This former star often worries about the next generation of Zhivagos not filling the tap shoes and top hats. Oblivious to all immediate surroundings, Linden needs to be bothered about his/her offspring, referred to on the streets as the Zhivago Ten, who are incapable and unwilling to fit into society. This band of unruly twin sets is making a name for themselves - but more of a name fit for a chalk-scrawled mug shot photo – not for the bright lights of Broadway.
Linden has no idea that the ten Zhivago kids are troublemaking scoundrels who steal car stereos, vandalize neighborhood mailboxes, and chuck rocks into store windows when the moon is high in the sky. Recently, there was a piece in the local newspaper's gossip column warning the townsfolk about the Zhivago Ten—the five sets of twins from the Zhivago household. Linden was not pleased about this article, to say the least.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. You are used to wearing costumes.
Goth-meets-Broadway flamboyance—sparkly black blazer, dark feather boa, dramatic hat, or stage makeup. Rhinestones, lace gloves, or canes add flair. Think “former star, still fabulous, but gothic.”
Zhivago Ten
Offspring of Linden Zhivago and their friends
The members of Zhivago Ten are the troubled offspring of the retired Broadway star Linden Zhivago. This group of hooligans has snuggled comfortably into the underground of Wraith’s Cove, unbeknownst to their loving parents. A band of delinquents, these five sets of twins, and their friends terrorize Black Dalia Drive, a street in the city notorious for criminal activity.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Grungy gothic—dark hoodies, ripped black jeans, chunky boots. Add mischievous accessories like slingshots, fake rocks, or graffiti markers. Matching twin elements (like identical necklaces) are fun.
Kennedy March
Assignment Reporter, Wraith's Cove Daily
Kennedy March often apologizes for being too bright for ordinary tasks. Kennedy is a rising star at the local newspaper and is assigned most of the lead stories. This risk-taking journalist will bend any rule to get the story, giving Kennedy an edge.
Kennedy recently had a massive drop in social media followers and is scrambling to get to the bottom of why this happened.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Gothic reporter chic—black blazer, dark pencil skirt or jeans, press badge, notebook, or prop microphone. Slightly dramatic makeup and purposeful posture match the rule-breaking journalist persona.
Kennedy March's Crew
Wraith's Cove Daily
The crew who works for Kennedy March is a shrewd bunch who knows how to evade laws to get what they need. If Kennedy is assigned a story, they will do absolutely anything necessary to make it happen. Ruthless, merciless, and void of emotion, you should never double-cross this group of folks.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Dark tactical or reporter-friendly clothing—black cargo pants, dark jackets, gloves, or hats. Add fake earpieces, press bands, or walkie-talkies. Keep expressions serious and ready-for-anything.
Jackie Pan
Advertising Executive, Wraith’s Cove Daily
Jackie endures a whirlwind of mishaps on a daily basis. With poor luck and worse choices, Jackie roams the streets with a black cloud looming above. Nonetheless, Jackie is perhaps the wisest soul in Wraith’s Cove and is a genius when it comes to creating advertisements.
Jackie has asked all of the paper's advertising staff to attend the party at Eddie Poe's mansion. Rumor has it that the staff are not happy about this, as they enjoy their free time away from Jackie's bad luck curse.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
A disheveled-but-gothic business look—black blazer with a crooked tie, dark skirt or pants, messy hair, and slightly smudged makeup to reflect the "bad luck" theme. Add a clipboard of ad drafts or fake campaign mock-ups.
Advertising Staff
Wraith’s Cove Daily
Jackie Pan’s staff must take a protective position over their ill-fated boss. Jackie is known for oozing bad luck, and those around Jackie must proceed with extreme caution as not to be sucked into Jackie’s vortex of chaos. Nevertheless, if a client has entrusted this group with their advertising campaign, they’ll never be privy to the dodged mishaps on the road to greatness.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Coordinated dark business attire—matching black tops, dark slacks, lanyards, or clipboards. Keep hair neater than Jackie’s to show their compensating role. Add subtle gothic jewelry.
Izzy Diamond
Mob Boss, WC Mob
The WC Mobsters are intermingled with high society due to their amassed wealth and fortune. With bank accounts rivaling the wealthiest tycoons in town, these mobsters live luxuriously while extracting the life force out of the city and filling the streets with low-level villains who do their dirty work.
Izzy founded the WC Mob in the 1970s. It is now a multi-faction underground organization that has spread like wildfire across the United States. Izzy will run anyone out of Wraith's Cove who does not follow the mob's rules.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire &/or mobster/ gun moll attire.
A luxurious mob-goth outfit—pinstripe black suit, fedora, dark tie, or fur stole. Add a toy tommy gun or cigar prop. Jewelry should look expensive but ominous—dark gemstones or bold rings.
Mobster
WC Mob
The WC Mobsters are intermingled with high society due to their amassed wealth and fortune. With bank accounts rivaling the wealthiest tycoons in town, these mobsters live luxuriously while extracting the life force out of the city and filling the streets with low-level villains who do their dirty work.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire &/or
Gothic gangster attire—black suits or dresses, lace gloves, suspenders, dark lipstick, or fedoras. Add toy guns, playing cards, or fake wads of cash to complete the mobster vibe.
Carmen Blackwood
Storm Chaser
Carmen Blackwood continually sizes everyone up and is quick to make lasting judgments about people. This storm chaser will drop everything at a moment’s notice if the sky darkens. Always the first to post a viral video inside the eye of a storm, Carmen’s ego often gets in the way of common sense, but it’s hard not to admire Carmen’s gritty and brave character. A tech genius, this tornado hunter is surrounded by the latest and best electronic gadgets.
Carmen has over a million followers on social media. Carmen's audience lives for Carmen's videos from the center of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Gothic storm-chaser look: black cargo pants or ripped jeans, dark utility boots, and a fitted black tech jacket or windbreaker. Add a headlamp, fake GoPro or phone rig, and a lanyard of “press” or “storm chaser” badges. Fingerless gloves, messy windblown hair, and maybe a dark baseball cap with a storm logo complete the vibe.
Eden Ellis
Theme Park Owner
Eden Ellis is a fast-talking, devious conspirator and the epitome of greediness. Eden owns the only amusement park in Wraith’s Cove called Dark City. The townsfolk are angry about Eden’s constant price hikes and closed-down rides when the park isn’t full. A shady business owner with a shifty personality, Eden will twitch when nervous.
Dark City is the only theme park in Wraith's Cove. It has been there for decades, but it wasn't until Eden bought it that shady business practices began. Many people believe Eden is too cheap to provide routine maintenance for the rides.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Sleek goth-business attire: black blazer, dark dress shirt or blouse, and tailored pants or pencil skirt. Add a crooked tie or flashy dark scarf, a stack of park wristbands, and a jangling key ring to all the rides. Optional: small name badge that says “Dark City” and smudged eyeliner to hint at stress and shadiness.
Fabian Capote
Surgeon
Fetching and dapper on the outside but malevolent and weary on the inside – Fabian Capote is a skilled surgeon for the Wraith’s Cove Medical Center. With a flair for befriending peculiar outsiders, Fabian often attends high society functions with uninvited tagalongs. Fabian is fanatical about hygiene and refuses to allow others to invade personal space.
Fabian would rather party with street thugs over attending a high society party at Eddie Poe's mansion. It will be interesting to see if Fabian attends Eddie's party without bringing a band of criminals.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired scrubs (gray, black) with a lab coat.
Dark gray or black scrubs with a long white or charcoal lab coat splattered with subtle “stress” details (fake coffee stain, rumpled pockets). Add a gothic twist with black gloves, dark sneakers, and maybe a skull-print scrub cap. Stethoscope, surgical mask (worn around the neck), and a bottle of “hand sanitizer” as a prop highlight the hygiene obsession.
Reagan Bronte
Event Planner
Clever and confident, with a flagrant disregard for the law, Reagan Bronte is a highly obnoxious anti-hero. Reagan fails to recognize his/her flaws and refers to others as inferior beasts. Reagan is a successful event planner in the city of Wraith’s Cove – but only because of extraordinary organizational skills and connections. Several redeeming features of bigheartedness, sporadic altruism, and never-ending love for family equalize Reagan’s negative side.
The townsfolk all agree that Reagan plans a perfect event. However, the way Reagan treats the staff of the venue is another story. Reagan is a ruthless tyrant when it comes to lighting candles on time and serving trays of appetizers on cue.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Sharp, stylish gothic planner: fitted black blazer over a dark blouse or shirt, slim pants or skirt, and polished dress shoes or heels. Clip a headset or earpiece to your ear and carry a clipboard or tablet with “event schedule” on it. Minimal but dramatic jewelry, such as a statement ring or choker, shows off the high-powered control freak vibe.

Umber chases her dreams of merriment and delight - whatever they may cost. Umber is the head 9-1-1 operator for the Wraith’s Cove Police Department. Umber has an irrational fear of animals and often wakes up in a cold sweat from nightmares about being chased by anything from insects to bears.

Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
The Your Mystery Party Merch store has a Wraith's Cove Police Department T-shirt line at www.yourmysteryparty.com/merch

Brook is self-confident and displays equal parts kindness and courage. Brook works at the Golightly Escape Experience for Gray Golightly. Brook’s a terrible liar, and this quality often lands Brook in hot water.
Brook seems extremely loyal to Gray Golightly. Brook often boasts about how great a job Gray does designing escape rooms. On the other hand, Brook's mother boasts about how she gave birth to a mastermind in escape room designs.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Fun, quirky goth: layered black T-shirt or hoodie, dark jeans, and comfortable sneakers. Add keys, lock props, or puzzle pieces hanging from a belt or lanyard. Colorful streaks in hair or playful gothic accessories (pins, patches) reflect Brook’s humorous, optimistic nature.
Dakota Bennet
Fact Checker, Wraith's Cove Daily
Bonkers, in the most magnificent manner, Dakota Bennet is a diligent fact checker for the Wraith’s Cove Daily. Sometimes mistrusting of his/her judgment, Dakota possesses a true gift of understanding. Dakota is a great listener but doesn't always give the best advice. Obsessed with music, Dakota’s colleagues are repeatedly asking this detail inspector to turn the radio volume down while at work.
Recently, a lead story that hit international status was published in the Wraith's Cove Daily. Unfortunately, the article had to be retracted the following day, as it proved to be fake. Even though Dakota had nothing to do with it and the story was never fact-checked, Dakota's reputation took a hard hit.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Neat goth-nerd aesthetic: black cardigan or blazer, dark button-up or band tee, slim pants, and glasses. Add headphones around your neck, a stack of “article proofs,” and a red pen for corrections. Subtle music notes or cassette symbols as pins or earrings nod to the music obsession.
Celie Hamlet
Epidemiologist
Greedy, impolite, and self-centered—yet smart as heck and wonderfully cranky—Celie Hamlet is an epidemiologist for the city of Wraith’s Cove. She tracks down the source of epidemics and activates the communication network with unmatched effectiveness. Nicknamed Lord of the Grumps, Celie is the portrait of crabbiness. Celie disease-tracks with perfection but is paranoid about anything and everything.
The rumor mill is reporting that Celie is currently tracking down the source of a rare bird flu in town that is fatal to humans.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire.
Gothic scientist: dark slacks, black blouse or shirt, and a lab coat covered in ID badges and clipped pens. Add a clipboard with “outbreak data,” face mask (optional), and maybe a small toy raven or bird to hint at the flu rumor. Slightly wild hair and cranky expression sell the Lord of the Grumps persona.
Rory Wonka
Psychologist
Rory Wonka is an outcast and huge sci-fi geek who was born into a poor farming family on the outskirts of Wraith’s Cove. Rory’s family has feuded with the adjacent farm for generations – just like the Hatfields and McCoys. This former farmhand firmly believes the neighboring farm boys are out for blood, and Rory will go to great lengths to ensure survival. Rory gave up everything to become a psychologist in hopes of a more comfortable life. Rory is socially ambitious but does not trust a soul. A nervous tick from childhood, Rory has a terrible cough – even when healthy.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire
Reserved, anxious goth: black blazer or cardigan over a dark shirt, simple slacks, and worn dress shoes or boots. Add a weathered briefcase or notebook for patient files. A muffler or scarf and slightly tousled hair help suggest the nervous, paranoid background. Optional: cough drops in pocket for the nervous tick.
Skye Gandalf
Nurse
A physically fit, totally irrational train wreck – Skye Gandalf refuses to offer allegiance to any person unless it compensates or benefits in some manner. An independent survivalist, Skye is great at thinking outside the box and will design innovative ways to achieve goals. Skye is an emergency room nurse at the Wraith’s Cove Medical Center. This caregiver is stone-faced, impossibly strong, and is severely addicted to tomatoes.
Skye definitely isn't the most popular soul in town. Skye can be mean-spirited and like all good internet trolls - will blast others on social media for no apparent reason.
Suggested Attire: Gothic nurse look: black or charcoal scrubs with a dark long-sleeve shirt underneath. Add a nurse badge, stethoscope, and maybe a tomato-print pin or small tomato prop as an inside joke. Dark sneakers, minimal jewelry, and a stoic expression complete the intimidating ER presence.
Angel Angstrom
Bounty Hunter
Defiant and headstrong, Angel Angstrom has tossed every known social convention out the window to capture bounties. An outlaw hunter with many burned bridges in Wraith’s Cove, Angel must jump tricky hurdles and rely upon exceptional ingenuity to ensure survival. Angel has a cold, calculating demeanor yet is still quite likable. When not on the road hunting bail-jumping felons, Angel works as a sketch artist at the police station.
Angel is reportedly at odds with some people at the police department. However, Angel needs the part-time income as a sketch artist.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired biker-style attire with leather vests/pants, long hair (wig), feather clips in hair, and many leather wristbands.
Black leather vest or jacket, dark jeans or leather pants, and heavy boots. Layer leather wristbands, feather clips in long hair or wig, and dark sunglasses. Add a toy handcuff set, “wanted” posters, or sketchbook to represent Angel’s sketch-artist side.
Dane Havisham
Chocolatier, Havisham Chocolates
With eyes that will turn madder than hatters and a friendly personality that becomes mysterious and untamed, Dane Havisham is a self-made chocolatier and owner of Havisham Chocolates. Dane claims to speak telepathically with animals and is a highly imaginative candy maker who makes cutting-edge chocolates that are sold globally. Eager to please and impress others – Dane is quite a theatrical individual. Obsessed with the color purple, close friends refer to Dane as Grape.
The rumor is that Dane started Havisham Chocolates after a spat with a teen rival in town. This was a case of sweet revenge - no pun intended.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. Dane loves purple, so choose deep purples and see if you can find a dark Willy Wonka-inspired costume.
Purple-obsessed gothic chocolatier: deep purple vest or coat over black shirt and pants, plus a dark top hat or bowler if possible. Add a purple bow tie or scarf, and carry a tray or small box of faux chocolates. Optional: dark Willy Wonka-style cane or goggles for a theatrical edge.
Florian Eyre
Singer, Songwriter
Fueled by annoyance, world-weariness, and a burning need for the freedom of expression, Florian Eyre seems capable of anything. Florian sings and plays the harp and has climbed to the top of the pop charts with the song Mermaid Tinsel. Will it be a one-hit-wonder? Only time will tell. Florian is quite talkative, especially when it comes to describing whims, imaginations, and dreams. A technophobe who digitally lives in the eighties, Florian is a great dancer who will cut a rug when tunes are playing.
Florian's manager is very worried that Florian won't be able to write a follow-up hit song. Florian has a short window to prove Mermaid Tinsel wasn't a fluke.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire that is more flashy, like a rock star/pop star.
Goth-pop star: flashy black jacket or tailcoat with sequins or metallic accents, dark skinny pants, and bold boots. Layer chains, rings, and dramatic stage makeup. Add a toy microphone or small prop harp and be ready to break into “Mermaid Tinsel” attitude.
August Orlando
Employee, House of Dread
August Orlando is a tough-as-nails antisocial. Dr. Fox hired this prized employee at the House of Dread after August displayed a perfect photographic memory and extraordinary skills in mathematics. August is a bit violent and fights a constant battle of bad versus good within. Sometimes, August loses the struggle and the alter ego known as The Grim surfaces. August is usually logical except for times when rage and loathing for humankind get in the way. The other employees at the House of Dread have complained about August practicing smiles in the hall of mirrors. They find it creepy and fear for their lives.
Some have reported that when visiting The House of Dread, August's alter ego, The Grim, has frightened them so much that they ran out of the place screaming.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. Optional to bring a Mr. Hyde’s mask with you for when The Grim comes out. Sinister goth: black pants, long-sleeve shirt, and a dramatic coat or cloak. Pale makeup, sharp contouring, and an unsettling smile fit the “Grim” alter ego. Carry the mask to flip between August and The Grim; optional name tag from the House of Dread.
Hero Tintin
Travel Writer
Unable to fit into a psychological profile, Hero Tintin is a cerebrally brilliant, refined, and sophisticated travel writer. Hero often does terrible things to others without conscience or remorse. With cultured tastes in music, fine art, and cuisine, Hero speaks several languages and is profoundly offended by disrespect. Hero travels the globe, writes blogs for Travel Guide Universal, and is obsessed with Christmas.
Hero is traveling to Wraith's Cove to write a travel blog about the dark city. This writer has lined up tickets to the escape rooms, scheduled a tour through the chocolate factory, and even landed a ticket to Eddie Poe's raven party.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. Optional: any type of tourist-inspired props.
Cultured gothic tourist: dark tailored coat, black trousers or skirt, and a patterned scarf. Add a camera, travel journal, and map or guidebook to Wraith’s Cove. Subtle Christmas detail (dark green or burgundy accent, a small ornament pin) hints at the obsession without going full holiday costume.
Hayden Sabbath
Professor, Hogcastle Preparatory School
Hayden, a wayward recluse, is sarcastic and aloof and manages a controlled façade that forever conceals anguish and unpleasant emotions. This professor's optimism and values stand in contrast to a hardened exterior and cynical behavior. A perfectionist, this moon scientist from Hogcastle Preparatory School is a no-nonsense instructor who refuses to listen to hogwash or tomfoolery.
Professor Sabbath openly admits that certain students of Hogcastle Preparatory School were favorites, whereas other trouble-making students were despised.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire. Moon-obsessed goth professor: black robe or cloak over dark academic-style clothes (vest, collared shirt, or turtleneck). Add round glasses, a notebook or worn textbook, and maybe a moon or star symbol on jewelry or brooch. Slightly messy hair and stern expression emphasize the no-nonsense attitude.
Mickey Humbert
Movie Critic
A self-loathing bully who is unaware of other’s problems or feelings, Mickey Humbert is a pessimistic film critic who day-dreams continuously of what s/he couldn’t be in life. Mickey has difficulty engaging in meaningful relationships and finds more significance and closeness to movies than to everyday life. A tiresome flake who’s always exhausted, Mickey cancels plans with others that were made months in advance.
Mickey's film review channel has many followers, but they often follow Mickey only to argue about Mickey's harsh reviews, not to take heed of the advice about films.
Suggested Attire: Gothic-inspired attire
Cynical cinephile goth: black jeans, dark T-shirt with a movie reference, and a long cardigan or coat. Add a notebook, pen, and maybe prop “rating cards” with low star scores. Optional dark beanie or scarf to show exhaustion, plus smudged under-eye makeup to capture the permanently tired vibe.
