My Special Hamburger Helper


There's no need to buy those boxes with all those preservatives and stuff. Here's a simple recipe to make MY FAMOUS homemade hamburger helper:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 2 cups milk

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until soft and translucent.

  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.

  3. Once the beef is browned, drain off any excess fat.

  4. Add the milk, beef broth, macaroni, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid.

  6. Simmer the mixture for 12-15 minutes, or until the macaroni is cooked and the sauce has thickened.

  7. Once the macaroni is cooked, remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.

  8. Serve the homemade hamburger helper immediately, garnished with additional cheese and chopped parsley if desired.
