Here is a recipe for my 100% homemade tater tots:
Ingredients:
2 pounds potatoes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Few teaspoons of minced green onions - chives - TBH I don't know the difference in these two things
Oil for frying
Instructions:
Heat the oven to 300F
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces. Place the potatoes in a large pot of boiling water and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until tender.
Drain the potatoes and mash them in a bowl. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper and mix well.
Add the flour and cornstarch to the potato mixture and stir until well combined.
Using your hands, roll the potato mixture into small cylindrical shapes, about 1 inch in diameter.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 375°F.
Carefully place the tater tots into the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove the tater tots from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Place in baking sheet and sprinkle the cheddar cheese, top with the onions or chives.
Heat until cheese in melted
Serve before they get all cold and stuff.
Enjoy your homemade tater tots!
